Join us for a jam-packed week of awesome hands-on maker activities!  We will be working with a range of materials and processes including, but not limited to: cardboard kinetic sculpture, mold making, electronics, paper making & casting, sewing, and patterned bead art.

Here's our project line-up for the week:

  • Giant cardboard robot hands

  • Small cardboard "automaton" machines

  • Relief clay sculptures & plaster mold-making (part 2 of this projectpaper castingcontinues on Wed.)
  • Battery-powered "Art Bots" from electronic components

  • Paper making & casting pulp into plaster molds

  • Rolled paper beads (from Art Bot prints)

  • Free-motion embroidery on a sewing machine

  • Paper quilling and LED paper circuits

  • Sewing a bag or pencil case (from free-motion embroidered fabric)

  • Perler bead pixel art

We invite family and friends to join us at the end of camp on Friday (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm) to witness our collective camp creation in action—a giant Rube Goldberg-style machine! Over the course of the week, each student will work on their individual inventions as one section of the overall machine. Each maker will work collaboratively to link up their section to another's in order to create one large chain reaction. Students will start their ideas as concept drawings, and will be given creative constraints to work within. In true Rube Goldberg fashion, we will mix humour, common objects and cardboard together to create a very complicated machine to perform a very simple operation.  We are very excited to see what we'll make together!

We also offer single day camp registrations for children who cannot attend an entire week but still want to join in on the fun! We still recommend attending a full week since many of our projects take multiple days to complete the entire making process.

Our programming is intended for ages 7 - 14.

Camp runs 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
