WE ARE MOVING THIS SUMMER!

We have recently been notified that our current location at Parkminster United Church will no longer be available to us as a summer camp location. The church is in the process of taking on an exclusive long-term tenant in the basement.

We have been assured that space at Parkminster United will be available to us until the end of the current school year which will include our upcoming 2024 March Break camp and two remaining PD Days in April and May.

NEW LOCATION ANNOUNCED

We have made a partnership with KW Montessori School which is just 3 minutes down the road! We are thrilled to be moving into this new space to run our 2024 summer program. It features beautiful bright classrooms and a large fenced in yard. There is ample parking and easy access to the highway. Please note, this building is not wheel chair accessible.

Address: 527 Bridgeport Rd E, Kitchener, ON N2K 1N6

FAQ

Is each week at camp the same?

Yes, our lesson plans repeat weekly in the summer.

My child loved your camp! Can they return for another week in the same summer?

Yes! Campers are more than welcome to return for multiple weeks. While our lesson content will be repeated weekly, this is an opportunity for your child to continue to practice their hands-on skills in those areas they enjoy most.

Do you offer extended child care?

Yes! It is available for a small additional fee. Daily fees are $35/week for morning OR afternoon care, $70/week BOTH morning and afternoon care. We also offer single day rates, $7-$14.

AM care starts at 8:00 am and PM care ends at 5:30 pm. If you require care past 5:30 pm please contact agnes@mindfulmakers.ca to make special case arrangements (additional fees will apply).

Are your activities safe?

Safety is a top priority at Mindful Makers. Our lessons are designed with learning success in mind which means proper tool handling techniques will be taught along with taking the necessary safety precautions in order to avoid injury.

While our goal is to get children comfortable using real tools, we will never force a camper to do anything they are unwilling to try. If your child is nervous about using a certain tool, our staff will work one-on-one with them until they are comfortable enough to work on their own.

Learning success does not mean that we will never fail-- failure is always an option! However, giving up is not on our agenda. Whenever we learn something for the first time, failures are to be expected. What is important is that we keep trying and we learn from our mistakes.

Will my child be stuck indoors all day?

Absolutely not! We are following Waterloo Region's Balanced School Day model, which means we will enjoy two 40 minute periods in the day for eating and physical outdoor activities.

We are just a 3 minute walk away from Breithaupt Park which features a splash pad, washrooms and large wooded trails. We plan on taking advantage of this beautiful natural resource as part of our weekly camp programming.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of parking in front of the church.

What does my child need to bring to camp?

Campers should come prepared with:

  • A nut-free lunch and snacks. We will have two 40 minute breaks in the day to eat.

  • Any medicine they require (EPI Pen, Benadryl, etc.)

  • A reusable water bottle (please label with your child's name)

  • We will be spending time outdoors as much as possible. If you want your child to wear sunscreen, we ask that you apply it at home before coming to camp. Our staff will not be applying sunscreen to campers unless you explicitly ask us to and provide the product.

  • A hat.

  • Shoes they can run around in. Please no flip-flops.

  • Dress in clothes that can get messy and stained.

  • Please do not bring any expensive personal belongings. If you child has a cell phone to communicate with you, we ask that it is put away, and not used during camp time. We will not be held responsible for any lost or damaged items.
