Today’s Projects Are:

Needle Felting

Today is the day we get to play around with our bags of fluffy magical wool! Warning: you might become addicted to this craft. This project is the perfect combination of creating something cozy and adorable while also getting to stab the heck out of it! Bonus, you’ll be making a very practical pincushion to store all your sharp needles and pins!

We’ll start out nice and easy by making a simple heart shape with a little help from our 3D printed mould. You can use cookie cutters for this technique, but you’ll need to be careful to not overfill it, as the walls of cookie cutters are much taller.

bonus needle felting tutorials:

Weaving a Tapestry

The art of weaving dates back about 12,000 years to the Neolithic era and is recognized as one of the oldest crafts in the world! Wowzers! Weaving is so useful for survival. Sticks and grasses can be used to create shelter and baskets for holding food. Softer fibres from plants and animals can be spun and woven into clothing and textiles used in the home.

We think weaving is a fantastic activity and can be equally as addictive as needle felting. There are so many ways in which weaving can be done. For this project we’ve chosen a simple frame loom design to create a decorative wall tapestry weaving.

But first, we need to make the loom! Yes, you get to make yet another tool for your collection. You will need to let the glue dry over several hours, so it’s best to plan ahead if you’re eager to get weaving.

Refer to our video tutorial for steps required to assemble your loom. Video begins at 56:04.
