Alistair Maclellan

Today we’re shining a spotlight on someone who has been a very special supporter of Mindful Makers since Day 1. If you’ve participated our camps, you may know Alistair as one of our talented instructors who loves to share his passion for making things while being goofy and generally having a good time. He is also one of the featured artists in a Nimble Nimbus interview on our show, At Home with Mindful Makers! You can watch his segment from Episode 1 over on RogersTV.

Alistair’s curiosity for how things work, his enthusiasm for his artform, his easy-going nature and generosity are all part of what make him such an awesome human being, friend and member of our community.

While Alistair’s creative interests span far and wide (he’s always dreaming up amazing projects to make) his love of bookmaking is what sets him apart. He is the sole proprietor of his creative business, MacLellan Books, which he operates from his shop in Elmira, ON. Each and every book is handmade by this talented maker with expert care and attention to detail. His high-quality products will undoubtedly last for generations to come.

This summer, we commissioned Alistair to create a batch of custom notebooks that we could give away as gifts. We are so thrilled with how these turned out, as he was able to incorporate custom foil stamped designs on the spine and cover, as well as an inscription on the inside cover page.

Alistair print, cuts, and assembles all the materials from scratch in his shop. Which means you can customize every part of these books to truly make them fit your own style and preferences. They also feel really nice to hold in your hands and are beautiful objects to display on your shelf.

If you’re looking for an extra special gift, want to preserve your own stories in print, or want a book to journal, sketch or plan your days in, check out the many amazing options offered over on MacLellan Books.

The art of book making takes time, so place your order early if you’re shopping for the holiday season. 💙
