Hey Makers,

Nimbus and I just wanted to take a moment to say, hi, how are you? It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to be together and we just wanted to let you know how much we’ve missed being at camp with our students. We know these kits are no replacement for all the amazing memories we normally get to share together. We’re really looking forward to when we can safely do that again!

During this time of social distancing, we’ve turned to our crafts to find comfort. When there are so many restrictions in place, it’s hard to feel like anything is in your control. I think that’s why we enjoying making crafts so much. When we’re in the art studio, we’re in full control. I think it’s important to recognize that.

Another thing we’ve noticed during this time is how much a mindfulness practice can help us work through our feelings. I’ve found that journaling is so helpful to clear out all those thoughts that swirl around in my head. When I write in my journal it’s like I’m letting go of all those thoughts, and that is a really good feeling! It doesn’t really matter what I write about, it’s just about taking some time to reflect and release your thoughts onto a page.

I wondered if maybe this was something you’d like to try too. So I asked our instructor Karissa to help us out by creating our very first Mindful Moments activity book! She has put together a lot of fun ways that you can start to practice mindfulness at home. We had a lot of fun coming up with our Mindful Moments board game too! We hope it reminds you of all the wonderful times we’ve had at camp together, and if you’re new to Mindful Makers, I’d like to take a moment right now to welcome you to our maker community. It’s good to have you here with us.
