Week 11

My Happy Place

Welcome to week eleven of your Smash Book! For today’s activity, you will be making a collage of your dream home space.

Step 1. Cut out the house template as one piece and trace it with pencil onto a two-page spread of your Smash Book. This will be the outline for the inside of your house!

Step 2. Collect magazines, advertisements, and colourful paper. Look for pieces of furniture, decorations, or backgrounds that you can imagine in your dream home and cut them out. If you can’t find anything to fit your vision, try creating them yourself by drawing or cutting them out of paper.

Step 3. It’s time to become an interior designer. Following the house- shaped outline you traced, fill in the walls and floors using your chosen paper and a glue stick.

Step 4. Now, you can arrange and glue in any furniture and decorations you want. 

Step 5. Don’t forget to also decorate the outside of your home! Colour or collage on top of the printed house template. You may need to ask an adult for help cutting out the window spaces if you want a peek-a-boo window, or you can draw in some curtains instead.

Step 6. Cut the house template down the middle black line. Now, on each short side, fold on the dotted line. This folded tab can be glued into the edge of each Smash Book Page, so that it can hinge open to reveal the inside of your house.
