Week 16

Doodle-Pieces

Welcome to week sixteen of your Smash Book! Today, you will be creating your own gallery-worthy doodle based masterpieces called Doodle-pieces!

Step 1. Use a pair of scissors to cut out the picture frames you’d like to use from the printable.

Step 2. Think of what types of pictures you want to have in your gallery. You can use real life paintings as a reference, or imagine entirely new ones!

Step 3. Once you have some ideas, use your fingerprints to create a colour base for the Doodle-piece. Using an ink pad, or a washable marker, coat your fingertip in the ink and press it onto your cut out picture frame. Try layering different colours to create a painting-like effect!

PRO-TIP: Practice on some scrap paper first until you get the hang of making finger doodles! Also, keep a damp cloth handy for cleaning your fingers in between colour changes.

Step 4. Use a fine tipped marker to draw the outline and features of your painting. Congrats, you’ve just made a Doodle-piece!

Step 5. Next, it’s time to populate your gallery! Use markers to colour in the picture frames, and glue them into your Smash Book with a glue stick. Then, use a marker to write some fun names for each painting! You can also decorate your gallery however you like. Try using more coloured fingerprints to create some patrons visiting your gallery.

Hey Makers! We have TWO Daily Doodles episodes for you today. Each one includes a tutorial for how to create some fun doodles using just some markers and your fingers. Enjoy!
