Week 36
Magic in the Shadows
Welcome to week thirty-six of your Smash Book! Today, you will be creating art from shadows.
Step 1. Find some objects to make shadow art with! They could be something with a recognizable silhouette, or something more abstract.
Step 2. Find a bright light source; this could either be outdoors with the sun on a bright day, or even a flashlight indoors. Hold the object over a piece of paper so that its shadow is cast onto it. Then, using a pencil, trace the object’s shadow!
Step 3. Now is time to decorate your shadow tracing! You can experiment with whatever medium you like. For a more abstract look, you could try painting in your outline with watercolour, then layering another outline on top with marker.
Step 4. You could also experiment by tracing many different angled shadows of the same object! Also, instead of colouring the inside of your tracing, you could add colour to the white space for a bold look.
Step 5. Once you have a couple options, pick your favourites and paste them into your Smash Book using a glue stick!
