Week 37
Practice Makes Progress
Welcome to week thirty-seven of your Smash Book! Today, you will be making a journal entry about practicing new skills.
For this week’s Smash Book page we have a colouring sheet and a journal prompt page. You can complete this through writing or drawing. When you are done, cut out both sheets and paste them into your Smash Book with a glue stick.
Small efforts repeated daily will yield results! Just keep at it and eventually, you will become so familiar with the process that it will almost feel like second nature. One small gesture may not seem like much on its own, but if you line them up, one after another, those efforts begin to add up and you will notice a shift. Each time you decide to “give it a try” you are climbing up one step higher on The Learning Curve. Eventually, you will reach the top of that hill, and will be feeling oh so proud!
But then it won’t be long before you decide to try out something new, and you’ll find yourself at the bottom of another hill. In this instance, please remember to be kind to yourself. You are new! You will feel frustration and that is 100% normal. You haven’t been able to put in enough practice yet, but in time you will. Remember to enjoy the process, even with its ups and downs. You will make mistakes, but in those instances, that is where the learning really happens. Some Mindful Makers like to think about these “downs” as the most exciting part, like the speedy drops in a roller coaster. Finding something you aren’t as good at means the adventure of learning a new skill is coming!
