Week 38

fun with fall

Welcome to week thirty-eight of your Smash Book! Since it is almost the fall equinox (the first day of fall), today you will be making a collage using autumn leaves! 

Step 1. First, take a walk outdoors and collect some fall leaves! Try to get a variety of shapes, colours, etc. 

Step 2. Before you start your collage, the leaves need to be pressed to make sure they are completely dry. Find two heavy books, and place the leaves in between them. You can add two layers of paper towel around the leaves to soak up any moisture and ensure the books are not damaged!

Step 3. Wait at least one day for the leaves to dry. Just keep checking them to see when they are ready to craft with.

Step 4. In your Smash Book, start arranging leaves into shapes! You can try to make different creatures, objects, scenes, etc.

Step 5. Start to glue the leaves into your Smash Book using a glue stick in the position you want. It will work best if you add glue to the page first, then smooth the leaf on top so you don’t tear it!

Step 6. Now, using a marker, add some details to complete your collage.
