Week 6

Exquisite corpse

Welcome to week six of your Smash Book! For today’s activity, you will need two other people to help you out. This could be two friends, family members, or anyone you want. This is an exercise called Exquisite Corpse. By working together, you will create a totally wacky mixed-up creature!

Step 1. Print and cut out the exquisite corpse template. If you don’t have a printer, just use a long strip of paper.

Step 2. Fold the paper into 3 equal sections, so only the top rectangle is showing.

Step 3. Draw the head of your monster. Get creative!! You can make something spooky, cute, or funny! Not sure what to draw? Scroll down to find our list of suggestions.

Step 4. Fold the head back under so that only the middle section is showing. Make sure to keep the drawn part a secret! Another person can now draw the creature’s body. 

Step 5. Again, fold the template so only the last empty rectangle is showing. Now, the last person can draw the monster’s feet!

Step 6. Unfold the template and take a look at your monster masterpiece! Feel free to make more than one monster, alternating between who is drawing the head, body and feet. Then, you can choose your favourite monsters and paste them in your Smash Book using a glue stick.
