This information was from our 2019 winter camp.
Join us in the new year for a three-day maker camp where we will be teaching a range of hands-on skills using a fun mix of materials and processes.
Consider giving the gift of an experience this holiday season! We think attending Mindful Makers and developing core maker skills is sure to be a gift that keeps on giving.
Here's our schedule of activities:
Wednesday January 2nd - Friday January 4th, 2019.
WEDNESDAY
linoleum carving
We will make our own rubber stamps with a repeatable pattern for printing on paper and fabric
needle felting
Make an adorable figurine, ornament, or functional pin cushion sculpture from sheep’s wool!
ThurSDAY
sewing draw string bags
We will be using a sewing machine to make a fully reversible bag with the printed fabric from Wednesday.
paper bead making
Up-cycle old magazine pages into one of a kind paper beads. Our custom rolling machines make this process quick and fun!
FRIDAY
Kumihimo
A Japanese braided cord making technique, perfect for creating your own key chains, necklaces or bracelets. Beads made on Thursday can be incorporated into this craft.
Snail Mail Stationary
Who doesn’t love getting mail? We will be crafting up our own cards, letters & envelopes with the intention to send these goodies out to friends and family. We will be using a variety of paper crafting tools including wet & dry embossing, stamping, punching, cutting and other paper craft embellishments. We will also explore watercolour painted cards using various resist techniques.
DAILY SCHEDULE & WHAT TO BRING:
We will be taking two nutrition breaks during the day to eat. During these periods we will also be spending time outdoors and playing games, weather permitting. Campers should come with a water bottle and a nut-free lunch and snacks. Please have them dress appropriately for the weather that week, including a change of shoes to wear indoors if it is wet/snowy out.
