Smash Books!

In this one day workshop we will create our very own Smash Books! This project will focus on paper based creations and explore printmaking with stencils, paper collage and zen doodles to personalize our book covers. We will also teach hand-stitching to bind a series of small booklets to make the inside pages of the Smash Book. Students can also work on creating greeting cards or other paper crafts with any additional class time.

WHAT TO BRING:

We will be taking two nutrition breaks during the day to eat. During these periods we will also be spending time outdoors, weather permitting.

Campers should come with a mask, a water bottle, and a nut-free lunch / snacks.

Please have them dress appropriately for the weather that day, including a change of shoes to wear indoors if it is wet out.

As always, please send your child with clothes that can get messy/stained!

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS:

We are so excited about the opportunity to be back with our students, creating art together in the classroom. Here are the measures we will be putting in place to keep everyone safe during their time with us.

All Mindful Makers staff are fully vaccinated. The church we are renting requires that anyone eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine (ages 12 +) must show proof of vaccination before being allowed to enter the building.

We will be running a screening station upon arrival and ask that you use this screening survey and verify that your child is allowed to attend camp that day. For campers 12 and up we will be using the Verify Ontario app to scan the QR code on enhanced vaccine certificates.

We will be keeping attendance lists for contact tracing, and depending on registration numbers, we may opt to separate kids into smaller groups and classrooms.

Masks are required to be worn indoors. We will have new spares on site as well. In the event of rain during nutrition breaks, we will have our campers eat indoors, with social distancing of 6 feet or more if possible.

We will be setting up our classroom to allow for social distancing and providing personal sets of art supplies for each student. Common touch surfaces will be cleaned multiple times throughout the day.

Hand sanitizer will be provided and hand washing will be monitored by a staff member before and after break times.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation! We are so thrilled to be able to offer in-person classes again. If all goes well with our first day back, we’ll start making plans to run a Winter Break camp as well. Stay tuned!
